The SOLO Project is a movement based performance art piece choreographed and directed by Nick M Daniels. This show time includes a talk back afterwards.
My choreography is inspired by global movement styles including African, Butoh, ball room culture Indian, Contemporary and Hip Hop and formed into highly stylized movement phrases that is based from and driven by pure, raw emotion. The soundscape is comprised of digital/electronic noise synced with piano and text with driving under currents that provide the heartbeat for the work.
I am creating an oddly beautiful, melancholic atmosphere with self realized photography, projections and video that draws you into this world that I live in. I decided to continue my exploration on the effects of technology in today’s world and the growth, development, changes in the way we communicate, the loss of civility and forgetting what it was like not to have. In creating this work I realized after all these years since my re-emergence this work has come full circle and continued to spiral off. The social and political concerns at that time are reoccurring today and with social media and advanced technology it’s terrifying.
